Tutor! Help an Adult learn English, improve reading-writing skills@ your library

Become a volunteer Adult Learning Partner (a tutor) and help an adult in your community achieve their learning and language goals. Adults are currently waiting to be matched with a tutor at Sonoma County Libraries. We have a specific need for tutors in: Sonoma and Santa Rosa library locations right now. And we are also hoping to add new tutors who are available to tutor some evenings and weekends. If you can tutor 2-3hrs a week at any of these library locations, please let us know, so we can contact you and sign you up for our next orientation and training dates - which take place online. All training and resources are FREE for volunteer tutors and adult learners.

Our next orientation will be held on Zoom: April 8, 2024 FROM 9:00 am - 10:30 am.  Please email us now or at least one week prior to April 8th so we can exchange some basic program information and then help you pre-register for this orientation-training date. Email: literacy@sonomalibrary.org or call 707-544-2622 today.  We have future 2024 training dates available.  Volunteers tutor in-person at local branches, flexible schedules.  Orientation and training is online.

We are looking for empathetic volunteers who want to help an adult learner improve their reading, writing & English language skills in order to achieve their program goals. No formal teaching experience necessary. Free training and materials are provided by the program. Flexible hours and library locations throughout the county are possible once orientation on Zoom and online training is completed during the 4-6 weeks that follow the orientation date (nine self-paced online training modules).

What We Do: Sonoma County Library Adult Learning Partners Programs provide FREE training, support and materials to volunteer tutors, who meet one-to-one with an adult learner at their local Sonoma County library two-three hours a week. Right now, we have adult students waiting for a tutor at: Santa Rosa, Sonoma Valley, Rohnert Park, Windsor, & Healdsburg  library locations. Tutors volunteer 2-3hrs a week to meet with an adult learner and file monthly hours/instruction reports online.

The next NEW tutor orientation training will be held online via Zoom: Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm. Tutoring takes place in-person at your local library branch after orientation and training is complete and schedules have been mutually agreed upon with a potential learning partner.

Contact us today and we will help you register in advance for our January 18th Zoom orientation-training date or the next ones scheduled later in 2024 (April, May, August, September & October dates also available).
